Visit to Wyvern Organs

VISIT AT 11AM TO WYVERN CHURCH ORGANS, ROBIN COTTAGE BARN, PLAISTOW ROAD, KIRDFORD, BILLINGSHURST, WEST SUSSEX, RH14 0JY FOLLOWED BY A PUB LUNCH AND AN AFTERNOON VISIT TO ST MARY’S PARISH CHURCH, STATION ROAD, LISS, GU33 7AQ. Click the arrow for more details.
We are grateful to our President for arranging this visit to Wyvern Church Organs where our host will be Lyndon Ford who is a senior Director of the company. He will introduce us to their work and we will be able to see and play a wide range of Wyvern digital organs including some of their Hauptwerk instruments. They also have a number of second hand instruments available. Following our visit to Wyvern we will have a pub lunch at either ‘The Stag’, Bulls Cross or a pub in Petworth nearby. The choice will depend on the number of members participating. After lunch we will visit St Mary’s Parish Church, Liss, where they have a Wyvern organ in regular use. As suggested by the address, the church is very close to Liss Station.

Summer Organ Tour to Hastings, featuring visits to the fine Willis organ at All Saints Hastings and an 18th century Snetzler organ at the Unitarian Church nearby. There is the chance to stay on for the the first of the Summer celebrity organ recital series at All Saints and also to have some award winning fish and chips.

Visit to All Saints Margaret Street
St Margaret’s has a magnificent four-manual, 63 stop, Harrison & Harrison Organ which includes a Tuba stop from Gloucester Cathedral. Dr Stephen Farr will talk to us about his various roles including that of Chief Examiner to the Royal College of Organists. He will then demonstrate the organ and invite us to play.
Saturday September 21st at 2 p.m.
Visit to St Mildred’s Addiscombe
Richard Mander will tell us about their two organs. The West Organ is a new Nicholson Organ which has been built with Lewis pipework from St Paul’s URC Croydon and the East Organ is a newly restored 1987 Mander. He will demonstrate the new organ for us before inviting us to play it ourselves. Remember that the opening recital will be given by Olivier Latry on November 16th.
